2026 Polling Place Laws FAQ
Who is allowed inside or near a polling place on Election Day? Voters and their children, people helping a voter, election judges and staff, reporters or news media, official challengers appointed by political parties, observers authorized by state or local election officials, people who would normally work in that building. Not allowed: campaigning of any kind within 100 ft, trying to influence someone's vote, campaigning on public property where a polling place sits.

Law enforcement can't be inside a polling place or within 50 ft of its entrance unless an election judge calls them to deal with a disturbance, or they are there to vote. They can't be stationed outside in case. Head Election Judge is in charge of the polling place.
