The League of Women Voters Mankato Area is pleased to announce Mankato West Senior Hunter Jordan has been awarded a Youth Civic Engagement Fellowship. Hunter is the son of Beka Matthes and Jeremy Jordan.
The Youth Civic Engagement Fellows program is an initiative of the Shumer Family Fund and the League of Women Voters of Minnesota, designed to encourage students of diverse backgrounds to participate in voter registration and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) initiatives within their local communities, in partnership with local LWVs.
Hunter’s work with the League will be focused on:
● Increasing the number of 18-year-olds who are registered to vote and 16–17-year-olds who are pre-registered to vote.
● Strengthening youth-focused get-out-the vote (GOTV) efforts to boost voter turnout.
● Learning about advocacy as an essential part of civic participation.
Hunter has been active in the speech and debate teams, FFA, Chess Club, Theater, Knowledge Bowl, and BRIDGE Club.
